Firmware Update
Use the Firmware Update action to
install a product update (a .DWU file) to the
gateway. This reference to firmware is for the gateway product only,
and not for the operating system or hardware
firmware.
Product firmware update
The deviceWISE products that support a product update .DWU file each have a product specific file, since it contains hardware and operating system specific binary application code for the deviceWISE product. This means that a single SUP file with a Firmware Update action (which has a parameter for a single .DWU file) can not be used in a campaign that has campaign members of different deviceWISE gateway product types. For example: A mix of Linux and Windows based gateways, or a mix of different Linux version gateways, would need separate SUP files if the SUP needed to include the Firmware Update action.
The product update .DWU file provides fixes or improvements to the base run time software. Your defined application logic (triggers, devices, transports, gateway administration settings, etc.) is maintained and is not replaced or overwritten.
- For information on updating gateway products using the Workbench, see: Node Administration.
- For general information on updating gateway products and the product's Release Notes, see: Updating products.
- In addition to updating the deviceWISE
firmware, device drivers and other extensions
should be updated to have the same release
level as the base deviceWISE runtime.
