Using the Workbench to define an IFM IO-Link Master device
To define a device that represents an IFM IO-Link Master device, follow these steps:
-
From the Workbench left pane, expand the node where you want to define the device.
-
Right-click on the Devices and click New
-
The Device window appears. The available device types are determined by the device support that is installed in this node.
-
-
Use the Type down-arrow to select a device type under the IFM group.
To define a device that represents an IFM IO-Link Master, set this new device’s parameters as follows:
Parameter | Description |
---|---|
Name | Enter a name for the IFM IO-Link Master device. |
Type | Select the IFM IO-Link Master IoT device type. |
IO-Link Address | Enter the IP Address of the IFM IO-Link Master |
IO-Link Port | Enter the TCP port of the IFM IO-Link Master. This is defaulted to 80 and typically doesn’t need to be changed. |
Timeout | Enter the timeout value used when communicating with the device. The timeout value is in milliseconds. |
Sensor List |
Enter sensor device ids to be used with the Sensor Control action
(We need to add details of what sensors are included by default, like the iFM stack lights for example but also need to explain the reason why this field exists and how to add others.) |
Per Variable Security | Select False to disable the allocation of additional memory to track User to Variable access for all Variables in this Device. Select True to enable this feature if required. For more information, see Setting up Read Write per device variable. |
