Connecting OPC-DA Client to OSI-PI OPC-DA Server

This sections describes connecting an OPC-DA Client to an OSI-PI OPC-DA Server. To connect an OPC-DA Client to an OSI-PI OPC-DA Server, do the following:

The OSI-PI OPC-DA Server and the OPC-DA Client (the deviceWISE node) must reside on the same PC.

  1. While connecting to OSI-PI OPC-DA Server, make sure that you select Subscription based (OPC 2.05 Spec) from Tag Read - Write Style drop-down.
  2. Set the property All Reads Sent To Server to True.
  3. Define and configure the windows service using the PI ICU configuration tool. To do this, it is mandatory to install the OPCInt toolkit available when the OSIPI user account is signed up for this interface called PI Interface for OPC DA. As soon this product becomes available all required software can be downloaded.
Install PI OPC DA server (32bit) from the product download page.

  4. Define the PI Points for OPC DA. There are input and output types available, however OSI PI is designed to receive the data from the process using any available OPC DA server. The details to configure an OPC compatible PI point is described in the documentation called PI Interface for OPC DA Version 2.5.1.x.
