Importing CSV files to Microsoft Excel

Downloading data from the Management Portal to a CSV file provides the flexibility to generate your own customized reports from raw data. This section explains importing the CSV file to Microsoft Excel while preserving data types and number formats. In some spreadsheet applications, including Excel, opening the CSV file may default to displaying longer numbers in scientific notation format (for example, 3.42805E+17). Follow the steps below to prevent this formatting.

  1. In the Management Portal, navigate to the screen containing the data you want to export.
  2. Do one of the following:
    1. To download all the objects, click Download CSV.
    2. To download the objects listed in a page, click page select and click Download CSV.
    3. To only download certain objects, select the objects you want to Download and then click Download CSV.

The CSV file is generated and is downloaded.
  3. Open a Blank workbook in Microsoft Excel.
  4. Click on the Data menu.
  5. Click on the From Text/CSV.
  6. Choose the downloaded CSV file.
  7. Click Import.
  8. Verify if the following options are chosen
    1. File Origin: 1200: Unicode.
    2. Delimiter: Comma.
  9. Verify the sample layout.
  10. Click Load.
