The USB Barcode Scanner driver provides communication support with a group of barcode scanners that communicate to a deviceWISE Gateway through the USB Port. The driver has been tested with barcode scanners from various vendors, with the one common thread being communication through to the computer is done through the USB Port.
This guide describes how to use the USB Barcode Scanner device driver in conjunction with the runtime and the Workbench.
Assumptions
It is assumed that you have experience with the following:
- USB Barcode Scanner device
- Vendor specific configuration software to configure the device to send scanned data to the USB Barcode Scanner driver. For more information, see Enabling a USB Barcode Scanner for use within deviceWISE.
- The Workbench.
Before using information in this guide: should have occurred:
- An Asset Gateway or Enterprise Gateway product is installed in its operating environment
- The Workbench is installed on a computer that has TCP network connectivity to the node
- The USB Barcode Scanner Driver was installed using the Workbench > Administration > Packages tab
- The USB Barcode Scanner PLCs have been configured and are accessible to the node via a USB connection.
