Sending External SMS

To send an external SMS to a connection that is not a part of the Management Portal, do the following:

1. From the Developer main screen in the CONNECTIONS group, click External SMS.
   
   The External SMS screen appears.
   

2. Click Send SMS
   Send SMS screen appears.
   

3. Enter or select the following to send an SMS
   
   1. Click on the SMSC drop-down and select a SMSC. For more information on SMSC, see Understanding SMS.
   2. Enter the MSISDN. Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN) is a number used to identify a mobile phone number internationally.
      If the MSISDN used, is associated with a Thing which has an associated smsc, then it overrides the smsc specified in the request.
   3. Select a coding format(Text, Bin or UCS2).
   4. Enter the validity duration. Validity indicates the number of seconds from the time the SMS message is submitted, until it will expire from sending the SMS.
   5. Enter the message to send.
      
4. Click Send SMS
