To launch the Tunnel Manager, follow these steps:
- On a Thing's View, click
the Tunnel tab.
The Thing Tunnel's tab displays a list of tunnels and latency of the tunnel routers. - Click on the Launch tunnel
manager to launch the tunnel manager.
A Java Network Launch Protocol (JNLP) file will be downloaded to your computer. - Choose to Open with the Java Web
Start Launcher.
The Open with option needs to be Java(TM) Web Start Launcher or the equivalent in your computer's environment.
For many computer environments, this can be found by selecting:- Selecting Open with "Other...".
- Navigating to the Java folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre8\bin.
- Selecting the Java Web Start Launcher
application javaws.exe.
If you are using Java version 9 or later then you do not have Webstart support. In order to access Webstart features, you need to download and install OpenWebstart. For more information on downloading WebStart, see OpenWebStart.
A dialogue is displayed asking if you want to run this application. -
Select Run.
The Tunnel Manager starts and queries the active Tunnel Routers to determine the Tunnel Router with the smallest latency value. If this process is successful, the Tunnel Manager window will display the list of user-defined tunnels from the thing's definition.
For example:
If the tunnel manager failed to connect, an error notification will display in the bottom left corner and no tunnels will be visible in this view. Proxy configuration may be required in order to connect.
