TR50 Advanced Connection Management tab

The TR50 Advanced Connection Management tab provides additional parameters that let you configure the Default TR50 connection between the gateway and the deviceWISE Cloud. These additional parameters complement the parameter values provided by the TR50 Connection Management tab.

Additional TR50 connections are managed using the TR50 Connections tab.

Parameter descriptions

Parameter Description
Connection Name Default.  This panel will always list the advanced configuration for the connection named Default.
State The current state of the TR50 connection. Can be Started or Stopped.
S&F State The current S&F state of the TR50 connection.
The state can be: No profile defined, Forwarding, Storing, Standby, Ready to store, Storing - forced, or Ready to store - force.
In order for Store and Forward to be active, a S&F Profile must be defined. Once a S&F Profile is defined, the S&F state will rely on the TR50 connection's Status parameter or controlled using theToggle Forced Storing button.
Message Compression Options are Enabled or Disabled. Use Enabled to reduce the data size of information sent between the gateway and the deviceWISE Cloud.
Compression Ratio When Message Compression is enabled, the percentage of the sent data to the original data size before compression.
Synchronize Time from Management Portal Options are Enabled or Disabled. Use Enabled to have the gateway synchronize its system time from the deviceWISE Cloud. This feature is only available on platforms where the system has the ability to modify the time on the gateway.

For related topics, see:

Report Location to Management Portal Options are Enabled or Disabled. Use Enabled to have the gateway report its location to the deviceWISE Cloud in the form of latitude and longitude coordinates. The gateway will report its location, if set using a GPS driver or the Set Location action, when the TR50 connection is established (started and connected). It will also report its location if its location coordinates change and there is an established TR50 connection.
The Management Portal provides a world map that displays each gateway that is reporting its location. From the world map, the user can select the gateway icon and go directly to the Things Overview page for that gateway.
Heartbeat Interval (sec) The gateway will periodically send heartbeats to the deviceWISE Cloud to ensure a healthy connection, these heartbeats are needed to ensure that the connection hasn't become broken.
Increasing this value will reduce the data usage for the heartbeats, but increases the chance that the connection may not be available when it is needed in a scenario where the connection quality is poor.
Decreasing this value will increase the amount of data used by the connection, but will detect communication problems in a more timely manner.
The default is 60 seconds.
The TR50 connection State must be Stopped to allow changes to the Heartbeat Interval parameter.
Reconnect Interval (sec) The time interval to try to automatically reconnect the TR50 connection when its State is Started and its Status is not Connected.
The default is 60 seconds.
Reboot on Extended Disconnect An option to reboot the gateway if the TR50 auto-reconnect is not successful in reconnecting. This reboot option can be used to restart the gateway in an attempt to resolve any gateway conditions that will not allow a TR50 connection to be made, which would not allow remote access and problem determination.
TR50 will attempt to periodically auto-reconnect its connection when the TR50 connection State is Started, but the Status is not Connected (as seen on the TR50 Connection Management tab). This attempt to auto-reconnect the TR50 connection will continue until the TR50 connection is connected, or TR50 is stopped, or this Reboot on extended disconnect option time period is reached.
Command Aggregator Options are Enabled or Disabled.
Trigger actions from the Thing and TR50 categories result in TR50 commands that are sent to the deviceWISE Cloud. When the TR50 Command Aggregator is enabled, the TR50 commands are queued for a time interval before sending. This allows multiple TR50 commands to be grouped together and sent as one message packet to the deviceWISE Cloud. This grouping reduces messaging overhead.

If a TR50 S&F Profile is defined, and the S&F State goes into a Forwarding state, the data will be aggregated and then sent regardless of the Command Aggregator settings. While aggregating, the Command Aggregator Interval (sec) interval is used.

For more information, see TR50 Command Aggregator.

Command Aggregator Interval (sec) Available when the Command Aggregator parameter is Enabled. The time interval to aggregate commands in a queue before sending them to the M2M Service. The range is from 1 to 300 seconds.

Editing parameter values

The TR50 connection must be in a Stopped state to allow changes.

After any parameters have been changed, the current values should be saved using the Save button to retain them. The TR50 connection can be started or stopped using the buttons on the TR50 Connection Management tab.
