Adding a Sub-Organization

When an org's profile has a limit on the number of Things, you will not be allowed to create sub-orgs.

To create a sub-organization under the current organization, do the following:

  1. Click the  (cog menu) >> Administration on the top right corner of the Management Portal
    The Administration screen appears
  2. Click on the Sub-Organizations.
    The Sub-Organizations screen appears.
  3. Click New Sub-org

    The Adding sub-org screen appears.
  4. Enter the following details:

    Description
    Key The key for the organization definition. For more information of keys, see Field Formats and Limitations.
    Name The name of the organization that is displayed on Management Portal pages.
    Description An optional description of the organization.
    Locale Identifies the language, number format, timestamp format and other formatting preferences for the organization.
    When you create a sub-organization the default value is same as the current organization.
    Email addresses to be added as organization administrators Enter the email addresses of the people that needs administrator access. Each email address should be separated by comma. Note that if the email address is not associated to an account then an invitation will be sent.
    Enabled applications You must enable the applications before that becomes available for the Sub-organization. Select the applications you want to enable for your sub-organization in the app center. Enabled Applications is a Super-User field.
    Mandatory applications are already listed in the Enabled applications. Mandatory Applications is also a Super-User field.
    Customer Reference ID An optional filed for additional organization related information.
    Allow sub organization Check this box to allow creating sub-organizations.
    Set Org as Root

    Check this box to expose available "Root Settings" section. Currently the only available root setting is "Force MFA"

    Force MFA: Checking this box will force every user in that organization and sub-organizations to enable MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) in order to user the platform. As this is the only "Root setting", it will be enabled as long as "Set org as root" is checked.

  6. Click Add at the bottom of the page to add the new sub-organization.
