Sharing a Thing

The Sharing tab appears, if a thing is shared with other organizations.

Cache Delay

Attributes and Properties are based on the Thing definitions. The Thing definitions is cached and there is a delay until the shared Thing gets updated with the latest changes to the Thing definitions.

It is not possible to share things to sub-orgs if the shared Thing has a thing definition key that already exists in the destination.

To share a Things with other organization, do the following:

While Viewing a Thing, click Actions menu
Click Sharing

The Share screen appears
Enter the Org Key
From the Permissions drop-down, select Read and Write or Read only access
Read and Write - allows to read and modify the Thing.
Read only - allows to read the Thing.

The Thing Definition gets unshared:

When all the Things associated with a Thing definition gets unshared.
When you delete all the things associated with a Thing Definition.

Thing Sharing Tab

The Sharing tab appears if a thing is shared to or from a different Org.

Status - Click Status to show the list of shared Orgs
History - Click History to show the Thing's History of Sharing/Unsharing logs.
Share - Click Share to share it with other Orgs. This button appears only when you have Read and Write permission

When you share access to a Thing, the Thing definitions is also shared but cannot be modified by any of the organizations with which you share the Thing.
